Inspired by the young adult medieval fantasy novel she began writing; Falconiere is named for the falconers who trained birds to hunt during the middle ages. As the name implies, the decadent chain-mail epaulets that hang off the shoulder and chest pieces that are constructed like camisoles command attention.Rose has always been interested in pushing the boundaries of wearable jewelry – with a background in clothing design, she felt compelled to consider the whole body when creating her jewelry line. “I don’t think jewelry should be relegated to just the neck, wrist or ears,” says Rose.Rose’s parents were fine artists who traveled the world before she was born, living in Calcutta, Florence and Morocco. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Rose found inspiration from the worldly treasures that filled her home. “The ornate, tribal jewelry that my parents would bring back from their travels, along with things they would create, helped form my aesthetic early on,” says Rose. She also finds inspiration from 60’s and 70’s movies, anything from medieval epics to rock’n’roll documentaries, as well as decadent interior design books.
